It  will be razzle, dazzle, glitz and glamour when the new production of “Broadway Magic” hits the Artscape stage for three performances in June.

The show includes songs from Mamma Mia!, Hairspray, Wicked, West Side Story, Rent, The Lion King, Show Boat, Anything Goes, Jekyll and Hyde and many others.

This wonderful mix of numbers from popular musicals – old and new –   will be performed by a variety of local soloists including Aviva Pelham, Shirley Sutherland, Brian Winter, Riaan Hunter, Barend van der Westhuizen, Graham Boxall and Luella Holland.

Our own internationally acclaimed vocal group, the “Voice of the Nation Ensemble” from Cape Town Opera, will add their touch of musical magic.  Supported by the swinging sounds of  Jazzattac, with Director, Bill Holland, this is sure to be an evening that should not be missed by any lover of Broadway music.

The show is organized by the Rotary Club of Newlands and all profits from this production will be donated to the performing arts, in particular Artscape Audience Development and Education, The Jazz Department of the South Africa College of Music and Cape Town Opera.

Performances take place at Artscape Theatre at 8.15pm on Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th.  An outreach performance will be held at 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon (June 20th) and the final show is on Sunday 21st at 6pm.

Bookings are at Computicket and further information is available from Corinne (082 453 8945 or email chudson@kingsley.co.za). Tickets cost R70, R120 and R150.

In the USA 'People with ALS' are often known as PALS. In each of the above photos the men are the PALS.

The set-up of this website has been sponsored by Jeremy Hindley and Lafras Steyn, both PALS and photographed above. We very much hope that another benefactor will come forward to sponsor the ongoing upkeep costs of the site.
